Billing itself as ‘The Greatest House Party… in a field’, the multi award-winning Leopallooza announces its first headline act set to take to the main stage on the Sunday night will be six-piece soul band St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Expanding its comedy offering dramatically, Russell Kane and Josh Widdicombe are also confirmed for Leopallooza XII.
Returning to Bude on Friday 27th – Sunday 29th July 2018, the homespun event will pop up at The Wyldes site on Lower Exe Farm for three days of live music, DJs, comedy, the finest street food and the tastiest beers and ciders. Hidden within a tree-lined valley in North Cornwall, Leopallooza Festival is populated with friendly, party-loving people for whom the laid-back atmosphere and picture-postcard setting is just part of the event’s ongoing allure. Few things embody the spirit of the festival more than its rustic edges, diverse and contemporary music offering and the symbolic burning of a car. Once again, the crew have been busy beavering away, plotting and planning to make Leopallooza 2018 the biggest and best yet. From live, late-night partying in tiny spaces, to hours of belly-filled laughter, this year’s event brings a string of exciting new happenings to the green fields and woodlands that cover the 100-acre site.
The Clearing, a tree lined opening found in the grounds of The Wyldes where deer often frolic, will be home to Leopallooza’s live music stages for 2018, accommodating this year’s artists including St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Rat Boy, The Go! Team, Tom Grennan, IDLES plus many more yet to be announced.
All the way from Alabama, six-piece soul band St. Paul and the Broken Bones will take centre stage and headline festival proceedings on Sunday 29th July. Brimming with energy and guaranteed to deliver a high-voltage performance, their most recent concert work included arena dates opening for the Rolling Stones in Atlanta and Buffalo.
Chelmsford’s Jordan Cardy AKA Rat Boy joins the 2018 Leopallooza line-up Blending hip-hop with indie-rock, the Essex born artist released his debut album ‘SCUM’ in August last year and was sampled on Kendrick Lamar’s track ‘LUST’ in 2017.
The brainchild of Brighton-based melody obsessive Ian Parton, The Go! Team will undoubtedly whip the Leopallooza crowd into a frenzy as they share a slice of their newly released fifth studio album ‘Semicircle’. Renowned for their energetic performances, The Go! Team are a band who still have faith in the power of music to make things better.
Discovered while singing karaoke at a house party with friends, Bedford born singer-songwriter Tom Grennan will grace Leopallooza XII on Sunday 29th July. Hotly tipped for big things in 2018 by Radio X, Tom made a huge splash when he was the guest vocalist on the Chase and Status track “When It All Goes Wrong”. With his debut album Lighting Matches due to be released on 18th May, Tom will share a slice of his new material with eager partygoers.
Invited by The Foo Fighters to be the main and only support at O2 Arena in London on 19th Sept, English band IDLES formed in Bristol in 2012. Bringing their raw punk sounds to the fields and woodlands of Leopallooza, BBC Radio 6 announced the quintet’s album ‘Brutalism’ as their Number 5 Album of the Year in 2017. Other acts include Electric Swing Circus, King No-One, Dead!, Kiko Bun and returning to Leopallooza XII for a late night Sunday service to cleanse earthly souls is Oh My God! It’s The Church.
Carefully curated by the festivals’ very own in-house comedy troupe, The Funny Side will bring witty one-liners and side-splitting humour to Leopallooza 2018. Fusing UK comedy’s heavy hitters with a handpicked selection of home-grown talent, the jam-packed stand-up programme will add an exciting new edge to the Cornish festival.
Multi-award winning entertainer, presenter, actor, author and scriptwriter Russell Kane will take to the main stage at Leopallooza XII on Friday 27th July. Previously nominated four times for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards and winning Best Show in 2010, Russel is famed for his critically acclaimed tours and has been performing sell-out shows across the globe. Also no stranger to television, Kane hosted three series of Live At The Electric, and has appeared regularly on BBC’s Live At The Apollo, ITV2’s Celebrity Juice and BBC3’s Unzipped.
Joining the cream of comedy crop, Josh Widdicombe will headline proceedings on Sunday 29th July. Best known for his appearances on The Last Leg, Have I Got News For You, Insert Name Here, Mock The Week and Fighting Talk, Josh’s infectious charm has earned him hundreds of thousands of fans across the UK. Like to belt out a tune or two? This year Leopallooza offers up its own twist on Japanese karaoke with the all-new Shi Shi Za Karaoke Bar, giving partygoers the chance to exercise the vocal chords and unleash the inner diva.
Festival revellers can find refuge from the crowds in Dinkies, Leopallooza’s tiny nightclub. With the ability to hold just a handful of dancers, the micro party hub comes equipped with a DJ, door staff and a cloakroom.
Bringing a selection of musical tastes under one roof, DJs will battle it out through glowing wireless headphones for an ‘everyone’s’ style, high-energy dance party. Giving festival guests the chance to control the dancefloor, Quiet Riot will fuse old school soul, modern pop and classic disco.
House of electronic arts & dance, The Treeline returns to the festival grounds as does The Hong Kong Ping Pong Club, delivering thick beats, heavy bass, plenty of bounce and a whole lot of boom.
Helping to keep hunger pangs at bay, Palloozaville will burst to life with food trucks and vendor stands serving an array of delicious delicacies throughout the three-day fiesta.
